Ozzy Osbourne is learning to drive at 60 – just so he can get out of his madhouse.
The rock icon has set himself a task of learning to drive this year, so he can get a little quiet time.
He says, “My house is like an insane asylum and I thought, ‘It would be great to get in my car and drive around the block – just to be on my own.”
But Ozzy admits he’s struggling to find driving instructors who will give him lessons.
He explains, “Nobody will stay in the car with me for more than three driving lessons; they all think I’m nuts.”
His wife Sharon put her life in Ozzy’s hands earlier this month (Mar09) when she let the rocker drive her the two hours from Los Angeles to Palm Springs.

RECOVERING junkie AMY WINEHOUSE is planning for a new kind of trip by learning to DRIVE.
The troubled Rehab singer — battling drug addiction — is to begin taking driving lessons this month.
She dreams of passing her test so she can drive a “cute vintage car”.
And pals are thrilled by her new goal — as she’ll have to stay straight to get behind the wheel.
Amy, 25, is trying to take up more normal activities after returning from an extended Caribbean holiday and moving into a leafy North London suburb.
One chum said: “Amy’s looking for things to do to keep her away from the temptation of drink and drugs.
“Learning to drive is top of her list. She wants a cute vintage car to drive around her posh new neighbourhood.
“It’s great news for her friends and family — she will have to avoid drink and drugs in order to get behind the wheel.
“But it might not be such good news for the motorists of North London. They should probably be warned to be on their guard.”
Amy, who looked healthier yesterday as she stepped out to buy sweets from her local shop, is also having a gym built in her new pad and had a sunbed delivered this week.
Her friend added: “She is trying really hard to fill her time with productive things. She having a gym put in at huge expense.
“Amy’s got such an addictive personality that hopefully her gym will become her new vice.
“She used to be totally hooked on working out before she got so deep into drugs.”

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has confirmed its new test fee structure for 2009/10 following a public consultation in October last year.
- CAR Theory Test will increase to £31.00 (from £30.00)
- CAR Practical Test will increase to £62.00 (from £56.50)
- CAR Practical Test [Evening/Weekend] will increase to £75.00 (from £67.00)
The fee increases will apply to theory and practical driving tests booked on or after 30 March 2009. Fees relating to the Approved Driving Instructor scheme will increase from 24 April.
DSA Chief Executive, Rosemary Thew, thanked the public for participating in the public consultation, and said: “We are doing everything we can to ensure that fees remain as low as possible for our customers – particularly during the current economic climate.
“Despite this, increases are necessary to cover general running costs, development work and increases in inflation.
“The Agency is largely self-funding. We receive only a small amount from general taxation and have to recover most of our costs through test fees.
“We are confident that these increases will enable us to maintain our high standards and provide a first class service to all our customers.”
The full list of test fees is included in the response to consultation report which is available on http://www.dsa.gov.uk/Consultation.asp?id=SXE00E-A7830F92&cat=336.

Today, Bedford School pupil Max passed his practical driving test in Bedford on his first attempt!
Max attends Bedford School and was given a personal recommendation by some of his friends (Wulf, Chris & Philipp) to use the driving school Txt-Drive when learning to drive.
In January 2009 Max contacted Txt-Drive to enquire about driving lessons. Max was advised on a the best course to take to pass his driving test – as he wanted to pass it before a set date (the Easter Holidays). Less than 12 weeks later, during which he passed his Theory Test in Milton Keynes, Max has passed his practical driving test!!
Max boards at Bedford School & was therefore unable to have any ‘private practise’ inbetween driving lessons. This worked in Max’s favour as he was not able to pick up any bad habbits from people taking him out for private practise (e.g. parents, friends…)
This was Max’s first attempt at the driving test & he successfully passed, making only 14 minor faults. On his driving test he was asked by the driving examiner to do a reverse bay park & also a left reverse.
Max was given the recommendation to use Txt-Drive by his Bedford School classmates & friends Chris, Philipp & Wulf. Two of his friends Chris & Philipp passed their driving test first time after having had driving lessons with Txt-Drive in Bedford. Max’s friend Wulf also had driving lessons with Txt-Drive & passed his driving test on the second attempt.
When Txt-Drive asked Max for a testimonial he said :
“Thank you very much!! It was a great experience learning with Chris from Txt-Drive. He’s done a great job! The Mc-Drive lesson was legendary!! Thanks, Max.”
Max had LESS than 40 hours of driving lessons & did NOT have any private practise!! He spent just over £800 on driving lessons which is well below the national average of about £1500!!!
If you are in the Bedford area & are looking for a driving instructor or driving school then give Txt-Drive a call on FREEPHONE : 0800 8600 983 or text DRIVE to 80039 (charged at your standard text rate).
There are special discounts for pupils who block book 5 or 10 driving lessons. Txt-Drive also offer a student discount to anyone in full time education.
Txt-Drive may not be the cheapest driving school in Bedford, but you will NOT be sold driving lessons you don’t need. The cheapest ‘per hour’ price may not always be the best value for money!!! Take a look at testimonials from past pupils who have passed their driving test, ask the driving instructor what the average number of lessons taken by their pupils are. Do some research it could end up saving you £££s in the future!!
